Darci Carter, SSP

Hi! I am Darci Carter, SSP, Educational Advocate and Consultant with Marvelous Minds. Ever since I was a young girl, I knew I wanted to help make a difference in children's lives.   Advocating for children with disabilities and helping families collaborate with schools has been my passion for the past 20+ years.  Mother to 2 college age daughters, one with a diagnosed learning disability, I understand the emotional strain and frustration advocating for a child with a disability can beMy goal is to reduce the frustration and partner with families to understand what their rights are and bring support to families by helping to advocate for their children's needs through compassion, understanding and guidance.  All while navigating families through the various processes within our schools.

I earned a BA from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and a Master's and Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Winthrop University.  Prior to Marvelous Minds, I worked as a School Psychologist Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for 7+ years and was the Educational Advocate and Consultant with Southeast Psych for over 10 years.

When I am not advocating for children, I enjoy hiking (especially on the Greenway), traveling, spending time with my family, and playing fetch with my 2 labs. In addition, I was a previous board member of the North Carolina International Dyslexia Association and previous treasurer for the SC Field Hockey Association.  I am a member of the Reading League of SC and COPAA (Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates).
